An engineering lead will contribute directly to product/applications development, taking the responsibility for: leading the team; delivering results; coaching and mentoring; ensuring the team to focus on the tasks at hand; communicating team status/progress vis-a-vis deliverables.
Engineering Lead is expected to have software engineering knowledge, solid software development skills, and previous exposure to multiple technologies and should have actively participated in projects as a developer/tester. Prior experience in testing domain would be an added advantage. In short, an engineering lead should have the characteristics of an all rounder.
An engineering lead will see himself/herself grow into a release manager, product architect, product manager or a development manager based on his/her own choice of career path and opportunity available in the organization. Given an opportunity the engineering lead would have an added advantage over other peer roles such as TA, PC, APE, SSE and STE.
You are great at:
? Minimum experience of 6-8 years as a Software Engineer or similar positions and preferentially having worked in Software Design, Analysis and Testing.
? Demonstrated experience in n-tier development. Good knowledge of Software Engineering processes, methodologies and tools (UML, IDEs, CVS);
? Understanding of BPM, SOA, Web 2.0, SaaS and Cloud computing paradigms will be added advantage
? He/she should be strong in Java (Core & Advanced)
? Should have good experience and understanding on SQL and PLSQL will be added advantage
? Experience in Angular JS or any web application development will be added advantage
? Knowledge of Oracle Java technologies Java : JSP, Servlet, JSF J2EE, JMS, Struts, Spring Framework, Hibernate, JDBC, SQL, and other Java related technologies)
? Mobile technology and/or mobile development background will be nice to have
? Demonstrated abilities to design and architect solutions that meet customer needs
? Should have excellent communication skills both written and oral.
? Actively network and establish relationships which are crucial for the success of the team, product and organization.
? Should set high quality standards and high teamwork standards
? Must be Proactive and result oriented.
? People with experience in scrum way of software development will be preferred.
What it takes:
? Contribute directly to applications/product development within a team.
? Drive the technical vision, roadmap, and enterprise application standards within the team which should reflect a very good understanding of the overall business direction/strategy taken by the organization.
? Enable the development team to deliver high-quality and reliable software efficiently (via tools, processes, best practices, etc). Lead and motivate the team to decide and deliver on their commitments.
? Plan and execute day-to-day operational activities in a team with minimal dependency. Monitor and control the projects/activities within a team with respect to schedule and quality.
? Demonstrate experience in the use of project management techniques. Holds daily scrum meetings, review meetings, sprint planning meetings, sprint review sessions, sprint retrospectives. Maintains work backlog for the team. Actively participates in overall-release synch-up meetings.
? Sound problem resolution, judgment, negotiating, and decision making skills.
? Build and maintain effective relationships within team and its ecosystem (among teams, sustenance, product management, field, customers etc.,) and collaborate well to drive improvements, leverage and showcase best practices in the context of software delivery.
? From a team context is expected to be inward-looking as well as outward-looking to meet the overall organizational objectives. Should manage execution related dependencies beyond team boundaries to get things done
? Mentor, grow, and establish a core development team that has the application breadth & depth across team.
? Will actively participate in the appraisal process and provide feedback to the team members on their performance. Consolidates the training needs within the team and will prepare action-oriented training plans along with Development Manager.
Should be able to succeed in an ambiguous environment and be able to cope under pressure and persevere.
? Should be able to convey organizational decisions in the right spirit to the team members. Also at the same time, get the pulse from team or solicit feedback from team and appropriately convey the same to management team.
