The opportunity:

As a Senior Principal Software Engineer, you will utilize superior knowledge and experience to perform highly complex product architecture, design, systems analysis, research, maintenance, troubleshooting and other programming activities. You will also play a key role in the development of work teams by providing others with direction and leadership. You will also be involved in cross-team planning activities such as providing status updates and coordinating activities.

You are great at:

Keeping up with the changes in OpenJDK in the industry
Applying, fixing and adopting fixes from OpenJDK community
Providing technical expertise to internal product teams on OpenJDK
Working on an open-source project with high visibility and an impact on the industry
Lead software design/code reviews to ensure quality and adherence to company standards
Collaborate with Product Owner to plan and prioritize tasks for others to support the achievement of team objectives
Provide status updates to stakeholders and escalates issues when necessary.
Lead and/or participate in the software development process from design to release in an Agile Development Framework

What it takes:

12 to 16 years of enterprise product development experience
Expert knowledge of Java including object-oriented programming, design patterns, and algorithms.
Experience in developing JVMs (Java Virtual Machines) and JIT compilers is a plus
Thorough knowledge of X86_64 instruction set and optimizations is a plus
Built/fixed Java 8 or Java 11
Possess experience in building compilers
Strong background in Compiler Theory and Development
Proficiency in debugging both managed and native code, locally and remotely
Good understanding of Microsoft Windows, Solaris and Linux internals (Mac OS X is a strong plus); ability to work in cross-platform environment
strong knowledge of key Operating Systems concepts (processes and threads, memory management, concurrency and synchronization etc.)
Good understanding of basic Computer Science concepts (data structures and algorithms)
Strong experience of performance and security aspects of software development
Experience with shell scripting, make and installers is a plus
