The opportunity:

Work with a team of talented team members with diverse skillsets to create monitoring solutions to solve critical business problems. Everyone on the team works with a wide array of technologies. You will need to stay abreast of the latest technologies and solutions and hone your skills to find new innovative solutions for monitoring applications, services, cloud, infrastructure and containers.

This is a compelling opportunity to work in the technology space of monitoring applications, services, cloud, infrastructure and containers. You will need to learn the latest in Cloud, Containers, Kubernetes, Analytics, Applications and infrastructure. Do you like to explore trends in the latest monitoring technologies? Do you work on getting the value out of current tools? Solve problems no one has solved yet?

To start with, you will need expert level experience with Micro Focus (ex. HP Software) products including OMi, OBM, uCMDB, SiteScope, NNMi, AppPulse, OpsCX, OO, OML and Operations Agents. Responsibilities include administration, installation and development of monitoring systems for the Tools Team. Proficiency in writing scripts (bash, ksh, perl, Lua, Expect, AWK, Python, Jython is a plus). Knowledge and experience with SBEC, TBEC, EPI, Event Automation and ECS. Strong expertise in setting up monitoring policies/templates. OMi Dashboard, service health, KPIs and HIs experience. RTSM models and perspectives. Automation, tools and runbooks.

Additional responsibilities include participation in the planning and execution of disaster recovery drills, and data center infrastructure projects for monitoring systems and the applications supported. It is also essential that detailed documentation be maintained so that all members of the team share on-call support responsibility on a rotating schedule. The successful candidate is expected to strictly follow change management policies designed to ensure proper planning and risk mitigation. Changes are done both during the day and off hours, including weekends.

The monitoring engineer regularly works with others in Operations, Product Development, other application engineering groups, platform engineers, system performance engineers, and network engineers.

You are great at:

• Configuration, administration and design of OBM or OMi
• Troubleshooting and resolving complex issues
• Managing, controlling and escalating problems and issues with vendor support representatives
• Being self-directed and working independently as well as in a team environment.
• Proposing creative solutions or alternatives

What it takes:

Required:

• 5+ years’ experience in monitoring solutions.
• Certifications in Micro Focus Products and/or demonstratable expertise
• 5+ years of Unix/Linux system administration experience
• Familiarity of containerization architecture, concepts and monitoring solutions
• Familiarity with APM monitoring solutions from New Relic and AppDynamics

Desired:

• Experience with Zabbix, Big Panda, Moogsoft or open source solutions
• ITIL certification
