This role (based in our Data Centre in Amstelveen/Netherlands) will work as part of the EMEA Operations & Facilities Data Centre team. This committed person works to maintain the critical physical infrastructure that support our internal IT Business Units (e.g. storage, network and compute) by taking care off (rack) design, (floor) management, maintenance, engineering and operations. This position oversees the total Data Centre end to end responsibility and scope from the computer floor- and rack conditions (continuity), to access controls (Physical Security) and connectivity (cabling and circuits).
You are great at:
Optimize, exploit, manage and secure the physical technical Infrastructure of the Data Centre (electrical and mechanical)
Site engineering: Control if all scheduled maintenance of the Data Center Technical Facility installations (e.g. Power, HVAC, Fire suspension, UPS/STS, etc.) toke place conform contract/SLA with local Maintenance & Repair contractor
Floor Management: Planning, installing, racking, stacking and cabling (UTP and Fiber) of IT equipment in 19-inch computer cabinets (hands-on); securing the cooling and humidity computer floor conditions (environmental monitoring/controls). Is the key focus of this job
Service Life Cycle Management: (Physically) decommissioning, rehoming, consolidation and remediation; e.g. end of life/support (technical) IT equipment, old cabling, old hardware, etc.
Monitor, perform and optimize the technical conditions in the facility and Data Centre Operations in relation to electrical, thermal and hydraulic requirements (by a Data Centre Infrastructure Management software application)
Junior (basic) Project Support and advice: e.g. the technical facility-, IT- and network environment projects
Data Centre monitoring: manage, track, create, report, analyze, document configurable (power) data logging key Criteria’s
Secure Continuity and Security: ensure a permanent availability of the Data Centre Services, take direct actions on alarms and incidents, be compliant with safety and security rules
Serve as a Data Center liaison with Applications teams, Management, Network, Storage, Compute (Hardware), Operations/Engineering and Office Facility group
Environmental controlling: manage, take care and secure cooling and power availability
What it takes:
Generalist with strong background in Electrical (and Mechanical) Engineering hands- on background experience and certifications
Preference of relevant work experience, ideally within Data Centre Operations in a co-location, critical facilities environment or as electrical engineer.
It is a strong technical electrical operational hands-on job with flexibility and attention to other technical details such as cooling and network cabling.
Good team player who easy connects and communicate with collogues; make friends easy.
Familiarity with IT- (hardware and network) and Data Centre (UPS, generator, cooling) infrastructures
Understand Change-, Incident and Problem Management (ITIL) ticket process
Experience with (digital) documentation, archives and reports
Knows how to analyze technical problems, conclude correct and realistic diagnoses and can solve (simple) incidents directly himself
Experience with racking, stacking, powering and cabling (UTP and Fiber installation, creating and understanding cable sheets) computer cabinets and IT hardware (incl. IP config)
Communications skills in fluent Dutch and English (in speech and writing)
Entrepreneurship: Is pro-active in the lead/control
Travel to various site locations occasionally
Living in Amsterdam area; at max 30 minutes from Amstelveen
