The Opportunity:

Senior Corporate Event Planner will be a part of the Corporate Events Team helping to manage Corporate Events. As a senior member of OpenText’s dynamic marketing/event team, the primary function will be managing projects from site selection to event completion. This position will have a strong focus on OpenText participation in tradeshows. The position reports to the Senior Global Events Manager.

You are great at: 

Manage Corporate Events from concept to completion (may include annual conferences, roadshows, sales meetings etc.)
Site Selection: establish requirements, conduct research and recommend meeting venues and cities, including on-site visits. 
Work with procurement to source, contract, and manage external vendor resources
Work on program outline for each event
Complete post meeting activities including, but not limited to event surveys/post-mortems
Work with internal resources in the execution of project components handled internally by Open Text
Maintain a visible role in the meeting planning industry by sustaining an active involvement in industry associations (as approved), attending industry functions, and building strong, mutually respectful relationships with clients, vendors, and facility representatives
Manage all event logistics associated with OpenText participation in tradeshows, working with vendor and OpenText key stakeholders to develop event strategy, logistics, layout, and attendance strategies for each event.   
Work with external vendors to facilitate booth design, layout, placement, promo item orders & any other logistical requirements, ensuring that logistical deadlines are being met 
Collaborate with marketing, sales, and external vendors and companies to organize, develop, and execute all facets of show preparation and ensure that deadlines are met
Coordinates services for tradeshow events, including accommodations for staff, facilities, catering, signage, displays, printing.
Coordinates logistics for meeting room requirements and speaking opportunities that OpenText is participating in at designated tradeshow. 
Manage each show budget and reconciliation of budget/expenses. 
Work with cross functional teams to creatively find ways to promote and drive attendance to booth. 

Additional Responsibilities: 
Support the client relationship by handling the logistics involved with the flawless execution of meeting or event details 
Support collaborative relationships with other internal departments and effectively meet deadlines established with the execution of any external tradeshow or internal tradeshow at OpenText conferences.
Prepare meeting function specifications, critical paths, work with procurement on vendor contracts and RFP process
Provide on-site support as needed during the execution of any other meetings and events 
Overseeing, managing & providing strategic direction on sponsorships for Corporate designated Tradeshows
Other duties as assigned

What it takes: 

6-9 years progressive experience in event planning as well as tradeshows (preferably in a high tech environment or agency environment)
Post-secondary education in Marketing, Communications, Hospitality or equivalent experience
CMP Designation Preferred 
Confident, articulate, self-starter, team player, hands-on but with good delegation skills 
Excellent project management and negotiation skills along with the ability to work towards strict deadlines and flexibility to move between multiple projects 
Previous experience fostering relationships and providing exceptional client support. 
Exceptional communication both written and verbal, with the ability to listen and understand client needs and focus the content
Strong desire in establishing and maintaining strong relationships with client
Ability to work cross functionally with a dynamic team who rely on each other to achieve overall corporate goals 
Proven track record of driving highly successful corporate events 
Strong organizational, planning, and prioritization skills are required
Goal-oriented, positive, a self-starter, with strong analytical skills
Ability to travel for events (Approximately 20% – 30%)
