The Opportunity:


The Sr. Director Press & Influencer Relations (Canada) is a critical role in the OpenText Corporate & Brand Marketing organization, responsible for the successful development and maintenance of ALL Media and Influencer Relations activity across Canada.
The role will be responsible for the implementation of innovative, proactive and strategic public relations programs that communicate OpenText’s corporate vision, business strategy, brand values and technology leadership.
Purpose/Objective

Senior-level communications professional with proven, hands-on agency experience in executing corporate, technology and local public relations campaigns.
Ability to align and integrate PR strategies and tactics with the strategic marketing plan, social activity,corporate thought leadership, business strategy and brand vision.
Day to day ownership of core Canadian business/national and local media
Responsible for working directly with executive level stakeholders
Main corporate PR point person for Canadian media, driving both proactive campaigns and reactive responses directly with the press.
Responsible for coverage across earned and paid channels
Focus on building and maintaining relationships with the core reporters across Canada.
Responsible for driving OpenText’s “Brand Canada” activity, strengthening OpenText’s position as the leading technology company across all 10 provinces, and position key OpenText executives as go-to thought-leaders for the Canadian press.
Strong writing and editing skills; and up-to-date media contacts in key business and national outlets in Canada.
Ability to work on several projects simultaneously, adhering to tight deadlines and communicating progress to senior leadership.
This position is based in either Toronto, ON or Waterloo, ON, and reports to the Sr. Director of Global Corporate Communications.

Work and build relationships with key stakeholders across OpenText
Develop and execute innovative and engaging communications plans within set time, budget, and resource constraints.
Manage multiple project streams concurrently.
Proactively assess stories and news, analyze issues, develop well-thought out solutions and messages, and gain coverage for OpenText.
Report on progress to the senior leadership team. Communicate risks and dependencies in a timely manner.
Track, measure, analyze and report results of all programs. 

What it takes: 




An experienced PR professional who can think strategically and execute tactically. A self-starter and someone who is comfortable working with senior, cross-functional teams.
Excellent (and current) relationships with leading business/national reporters in Canada
Excellent organizational and project management skills, and a solid track record of excellence in developing and executing corporate public relations
Very strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with the ability to interact with individuals and groups, spanning all organizational levels. 
Strong and committed work ethic and the ability to work in a collaborative team environment.
A high level of energy, commitment and enthusiasm to take on complex, challenging situations in a dynamic organization; and the ability to envision, articulate and realize both process and program improvements within the communications dept.
Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 15 years of corporate PR experience - ideally in a high-tech PR agency
