The Opportunity:

The Senior Director, Software Engineering is responsible for all Project Management Office functions in support of the Business Networks Business Unit, including but not limited to supporting the BU Engineering Leader and Product Manager Leaders, and their teams as required. This leadership role is part of the PMO Engineering team that supports the EVP Engineering. This role has the following primary areas of focus and all other requirements needed to support the Engineering team across OT, and may change as business circumstances dictate.


You are great at:

Project Management

  • Support Engineering PMO and Corporate requirements and implement in the BN business.

  • Manage strategic initiatives for the BN business.

  • Provide project management based on business priorities determined by the VP of Product Development.

  • Drive on-time/on budget projects.

  • Utilize consistent processes for management, tracking, and reporting as appropriate

  • Ensure Security vulnerabilities are tracked and addressed

  • Work with cross-functional teams to ensure plans & resources are coordinated, and project deliverables are well defined, scoped and achieved.

  • Ensure G2M (Go-to-Market) activities are addressed

  • Manage communications cross-functionally and promptly escalate issues requiring direction from management.


  • Working with the acquisition teams, provide the leadership to ensure integration with any business that is to be integrated with Product Development. Includes integration with current processes (i.e., Project Checkpoints, Client Commitment tracking, etc.)

  • Provide PD leadership and support for integration to OpenText business practices and tools (i.e., SAP, release standards, etc.) and reporting compliance (i.e., Bug Reviews, Project Calendar Reviews, Time Compliance, Client Commitments, and corporate training, etc.)

Metrics Reporting

  • Provide regular metrics and reports with quality; deliver all reports on/ahead of schedule.

Process Management

  • Document and implement processes to improve productivity, delivery, and reduce administration

  • Provide Browser Policy leadership

  • Implement continuous process improvements related to project planning

  • Ensure PC replacement upgrade process is implemented and followed

  • Ensure the translation processes are followed and within budget

  • Ensure Browser Policy is up-to-date and appropriate to meet the needs of our clients

  • Continue to provide PD leadership for any future SM9/SIEBEL/JIRA/ITSM integration and changes

  • Help drive *Agile- processes and expertise

  • Participate in business development and business planning initiatives, as required.

  • Take an ownership role to ensure PD Procurement needs are addressed; includes contractors, consultants, services, and products/equipment.

  • Provide active support for all OpenText PMO initiatives

Issues Management

  • In conjunction with PD, identify and get approval on the key BN ticket metrics to track and drive the teams to achieve them. Includes: Backlog on Incidents, Backlog on Problems

  • Ensure team meets SLA for Critical and Blocking bugs and Triaged tickets

  • Review and revise ticket metric goals when requested by senior management

  • Help PD achieve the key ticket management goal metrics

  • Ensure data is available as needed; provide visibility; escalate issues before they have a negative impact on goals or client satisfaction.

What it takes:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related areas

  • 10+ years project or program management experience

  • 5+ years management experience

  • Ability to work independently and drive issues to resolution

  • Ability to motivate a team in meeting a tight deadline and following standards

  • Ability to manage a team in various locations

  • Proven track record of meeting/surpassing objectives and delivering exceptional results

  • Fluent with Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel and Word

  • Must have very strong interpersonal skills including a demonstrated ability to partner with others and manage complex problems and relationships

  • Self-motivated; can do attitude

  • Strong facilitation and negotiation skills

  • Strong leader who can coach, develop, lead, and inspire a team.

  • Ability to work on multiple concurrent projects

  • Strong technical and business skills/acumen

  • Responsive to requests from all levels

  • Attentive to detail

  • Driven by client’s success
