The Opportunity:

The Advisory Solution Engineer will be responsible for providing support and review for all activities related to cloud and managed services platform.  This individual must understand thoroughly of current design with hands-on technical experience. The role will also help support development of innovative solutions in cloud and infrastructure technologies.

 

You are great at:

  • Developing/enhancing a Production Support Framework utilizing the best practices and standards identified by ITIL.  This shall be used to manage production incidents, problems, and known errors.  Work with various Engineering and Professional Services development teams and management to provide not only temporary fixes/workarounds, but also to follow up and ensure that permanent supportable solutions are developed and deployed.
  • Delivering technology advisory and implementation solutions that extract and maximize business value from IT investments for TG16 and MS platform
  • Establishing a Post Implementation Review process for bugs, fixes, and issues encountered in active production instances.
  • Providing feedback to the Engineering and Professional Services teams to enhance OpenText services and applications with regard to making them more easily supported in a Production environment.
  • Developing/enhancing Automated Deployment strategy; full lifecycle development of components with an emphasis on high quality, scalability and usability. 
  • Working with Engineering and Managed Services teams to elicit and make recommendations on their application deployment requirements in accordance with deployment standards. 
  • Leading the development team.
  • Proactively and effectively identify customer needs; understand business issues and drivers behind specific request

  • Building and delivering custom presentations and demonstrations to customers and prospects by matching specific client business requirements into effective technical solutions

  • Possessing the knowledge and expertise of all OT Commercial products and capabilities

  • Working closely with Product Marketing and Management teams to stay current on all OT product features and offerings

  • Providing input to Infrastructure Architects on application stacks needs and service management trends for product enhancements

  • Discussing & demonstrating OT Commercial technical architecture and integration model

  • Being recognized as a technical POC and technology expert for IT Commercial Operations
  • Maintaining high level knowledge of competitive product lines, especially as it relates to technical strengths and weaknesses of the competitor's products

  • Leading continuous knowledge transfer to the Professional Services, Sales force regarding Application and Infrastructure technical aspects and benefits of OT products’ stability

  • Expertly discuss datacenter migration and other integration topics

  • Managing special projects as directed by Management.

  • Creating and approving RFP content

What it takes:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Sciences or related.
  • Minimum of 10 years of related managed services B2B experience.  Equivalent work related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered
  • Well versed in J2EE and container technologies (e.g. Tomcat and WebLogic) as well as the WebMethods integration platform.  Needs to have a good understanding of file transfer and messaging protocols (e.g. FTP, SFTP, FTP/S, AS2, Connect:Direct, WebSphere MQ, Tumbleweed, OFTP, X.400, etc.
  • Apply sound software engineering principles and good practices to produce commercial grade applications.
  • Identify and analyze alternate architecture
  • Review product design documents to ensure compliance with architecture standards
  • Work with Program Management Development on functional specifications
  • Experience needed in web based EDI service administration and operational support tools.
  • Experience needed in relational database management systems using SQL, PL-SQL, and stored procedures.
  • Excellent communication and people skills
  • Strong sense of product architecture
  • Ability to understand and factor user requirements into architecture
  • Java/J2EE, C/C++ expect and Perl/Shell Scripting expertise
