The Opportunity:
The Data Scientist is a core member of the OpenText Energy & Engineering team, working together to develop revenue and expand the solutions installed base globally. The position will involve analyzing complex requirements and industry standards to provide a compelling, unique value proposition to the customer, which leverages solutions from the OpenText EIM portfolio.
The Data Scientist will be mostly responsible for providing analysis and insight in support of the BIM (Building Information Modeling) project within the OpenText Energy & Engineering team, particularly focusing on support for various taxonomies and schemas used to classify and exchange information about buildings. For example, Understanding the Uniclass 2015 taxonomy (https://toolkit.thenbs.com/articles/classification#classificationtables), but also analysing and communicating differences in industry taxonomies across international boundaries.
The Data Scientist will relate building structure, properties and process data with external and customer information sources to develop machine learning models and provide insight for our international customers in the Energy & Utilities industries
There will be the opportunity to be involved in some external groups, for example *BuildingSmart- https://www.buildingsmart.org/

The Data Scientist will also gain familiarity with the USPI/CFIHOS (Capital Facilities Information Hand Over Specification) data structures and support any implementation efforts across OpenText Energy & Engineering products (http://www.uspi.nl/index.php/projects/frameworks-methodologies/136-cfihos)
The Data Scientist will help the customer visualize their data (particularly related to 3D BIM model views) by building out use cases, enabling solutions and delivering both technical and business level presentations to technical, business and management-level audiences.

You are great at:

* Understanding of statistical and predictive modeling concepts and recommendation and optimization algorithms.
* Working on complex problems that may require research and deep knowledge of the solution and address broad design issues for future projects.
* Providing technical leadership on data science topics to the development teams and Product Management
* Applying both technical and business skills to create and build solutions to meet the customer’s business requirements.
* Wanting to make a difference through creative thinking to uncover new insights and drive change

What it takes:

* BS degree in Computer Science, Information Science, Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics or related field degree.
* At least 2 yrs professional experience in Analytics/Data Science. (Post Graduates considered)
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Strong analytical and creative mindset.
* Experience with SQL, ETLs and data structures.
* Experience with statistical applications and tools, use of the R programming language
* Experience working with large, multi-dimensional real datasets and real business projects.
* Able to work in a team environment.
* Engineering data experience based around the built world, and large-scale infrastructure will be appreciated
* Experience with Java will be appreciated.
* Experience creating rich, meaningful data visualizations will be appreciated.
* Experience with business intelligence tools will be appreciated.
* Experience analyzing unstructured content will be appreciated.
* Knowledge/Experience with big data technologies and data lakes will be appreciated.
