The Opportunity:

The Principal Enterprise Architect will be a member of the Enterprise Architecture team, reporting directly to the Chief Architect of Business Networks unit of OpenText.

The Principal Enterprise Architect will have the leading role in defining and governing the architectural vision for the OpenText Business Networks Application portfolio, in alignment with the overall architectural vision for the Business Networks Trading Grid. The work will include defining and executing a program to transform the current applications, working with product managers, product development teams, EA peers, and the SVP of Engineering
 

You are great at:


  • Collaborating with the SVP Engineering, Chief Architect and members of the Enterprise Architecture team to define and govern the overall architectural vision for the Business Networks Application Portfolio
  • Acting as a technical expert versed in contemporary technologies and patterns, help formalizing standards developed by the EA team, and lead efforts for rollout and adoption of new tools, technologies, and patterns.
  • Working with globally distributed product development, professional services and operations teams to define and implement system architectures within the enterprise architecture plan
  • Interacting with product development teams working in an Agile environment to provide architectural governance and consulting
  • Communicating the architecture in writing and presentations, internally and externally
  • Designing and implementing targeted R&D projects to prove out new technologies or architectural strategies.
  • Function as a senior technical consultant on high priority projects or initiatives
  • Collaborating with product management and business development on strategic initiatives and due diligence activities

What it takes:

The ideal candidate will possess deep technical skill in software architecture and cloud computing as well as very strong written and public communication skills. The ideal candidate should also have a demonstrated ability to think strategically about business, product, and technical challenges. 

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree with 10+ years’ experience in designing highly scalable distributed systems
  • Extensive experience with Java-based server side development technologies
  • Demonstrated ability to architect highly available, high volume transaction and messaging solutions in a services oriented environment.
  • Experience with contemporary architecture, patterns and technologies and a demonstrated ability to lead solution definition and technology adoption.
  • Proven ability to architect and design solutions that can be extended through the use of web services (both SOAP and REST). Recent experience with designing Micro Services architecture desirable.
  • Experiencing with asynchronous services (JMS) is a must.
  • 7+ years of experience building enterprise applications with relational database technologies (preferably Oracle) as well as NoSQL data stores.
  • 7+ years of experience building enterprise scale, highly available, Java applications
  • 5+ years working with product managers and/or line of business professionals to architect business solutions
  • Familiar with Linux, Oracle RAC, Java Ecosystem and Virtualization Technologies
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills are a must. Past experience writing and publishing technical whitepapers desirable. 

Desirable

  • Experience with architecting SOLR & ElasticSearch solutions highly desirable
  • Experience with design high volume message processing solutions using Kafka is highly desirable.
  • Experiences with and understanding of UI Development Frameworks (JSF, AngularJS) and contemporary UI patterns desirable
  • Experience with building Big Data solutions on NoSQL technologies
  • Experience with Agile development
  • Experience working in a DevOps environment
  • Experience architecting complex web applications involving federated security, extensive data entitlements, and global distribution
