The opportunity:

The OpenText OnDemand Senior Engineer will provide automations for Install / configure / Monitoring of any Enterprise Applications on the Cloud. Open Text OnDemand, running on top of an extensive VMware virtualization platform of products including but not limited to vSphere, vCenter, vShield, and View, will utilize these automations to quickly provision the required software to its customers. vApp Engineers must provide tuned and optimized VM/vApp designs congruent with OpenText OnDemand standards, infrastructure design and planning, system upgrades and migrations, acceptance testing, and maintenance strategies. Initial provisioning as well as software upgrades should be automated as much as possible using the best automation technologies available. The individual will coordinate as required with OnDemand and Application product management, engineering, and support to provide a cohesive stack of products that interoperate and satisfy customer needs.

You are great at:

Provide vApps which meet OpenText OnDemand standards, high levels of automation, and best practices for Enterprise Application deployment
Datacenter deployment automation
Generate high-quality project documentation, including but not limited to design documents, test plans, support and transition guides
Assist OnDemand product management to estimate and size systems for optimal customer usage
Communicate status of assignments accurately to project and delivery management
Represent OpenText in a professional manner to customers, OpenText Partners, and other OpenText personnel
Prepare, maintain, and submit activity/progress reports and time recording/management reports in accordance with published procedures
Provide knowledge transfer throughout and at the completion of assigned project
Advise the project manager on level of effort required to perform assigned implementations
Seek advice or assistance from management as required during difficult complex customer situations
Work in conjunction with OpenText colleagues to ensure effective resolution of technical issues
Participate in application and code reviews, testing process, and certification of software solution
Perform according to established safety standards, and report unsafe situations and recommend improvements

What it takes:

Experience working with OpenText Documentum, with at least one of the following products: Webtop, D2, xCP, Process Suite, Forms Builder, Business Activity Monitor is strongly preferred
Customer-facing roles like consulting and technical support strongly desired
Strong analytical skills combined with ability to work in a fast-paced environment with geographically distributed teams
Knowledge of Windows Server operating systems required, Linux preferred
Knowledge of scripting languages, Windows PowerShell in particular, is strongly preferred
Knowledge of VMware virtualization and system management technologies such as vSphere, vCenter, vShield, vCloud Director, and View is preferred
SQL Server experience is preferred, Oracle experience is desired
Experience using: Java Application Servers, Web Servers, Databases, Load Balancers, Firewalls, Internet and Networking Tools
Knowledge of Load and Performance testing and application tuning is preferred
