The Opportunity:

POSITION SUMMARY

Senior Software Engineer position for the Active Foundation/Trading Grid Online Services team responsible for software development using J2EE technologies

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

The Senior Software Engineer will deliver components on the Trading Grid platform using Java/J2EE in a Service-Oriented Architecture.  Development responsibilities include coding, testing, deployment, documentation, troubleshooting, and production support.  The individual will need to apply significant experience translating given business usecases into system requirements that translate to working software. This role need to exhibit shrewdness in applying design methodologies.  In this role, the Software Engineer must successfully work with the Engineering team and interact with other teams when its required.  The individual will adhere to published standards and the Trading Grid architectural direction to complete high/low level design and development tasks that address business/product needs.

You are great at:

Knowledge:

  • Proficiency in Core Java/j2ee, Servlets, JSP, JSF

  • Good understanding of J2EE Framework

  • Good understanding of Spring, Struts and Hibernate  framework

  • Apache/Tomcat/WebLogic containers/environments

  • Web UI development with JSP, HTML JavaScript

  • XMLand XSL transformations (XSLT)

  • SQL and Oracle databases (PL/SQL skills essential)

  • Open Source tools/utilities including Eclipse, Subversion, Bugzilla, Wiki

  • SOAP/REST Web Services

  • Basic UNIX/Linux (RedHat) knowledge

  • Must have good knowledge of Design Patterns, db design and hands-on experience

  • Good problem-solving and coding skills

  • Good interpersonal and communication skills

  • Work independently and handle product responsibilities (deduce requirements, provide solutions)

  • Should be able to interact with customers to help them troubleshoot issues with our software, co-ordinate with other support tiers

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/MCA or a related discipline from reputed institute.

  • 4 to 5 years Java/J2EE programming experience required.


Industry Experience:

  • 4-5 years of Experience with E-Commerce, Supply Chain Management/Visibility, and EDI desired.


What it takes:

Desirable :

  • Experience in writing JSP Custom tags and working with tag libraries

  • Webservice (RESTFUL) Development with AXIS2

  • JSF and Web 2.0 tehcnologies

  • Knowledge of Ant, Maven build scripts

  • Rapid development methodologies such as Agile
