The Opportunity:
As a Systems Monitoring Engineer, you will be responsible for the monitoring of our cloud infrastructure and applications, as well as managing and maintaining the supporting technologies. You will ensure that the monitoring infrastructure is operating and performing optimally and efficiently; and ensure that all customers are being monitored.

Success in this role requires very strong Zabbix skills, system administration skills, and attention to minute details. You are expected to analyze complex system behaviors or problems, and be able to trace issues across multiple systems. You are a first responder and are ultimately responsible for ensuring our cloud infrastructure services are being monitored.

You are great at:
Operate and deploy Zabbix monitoring and alerting globally

Ensure that the monitoring system will be updated after the set-up of new platforms and/or services

Participate in Customer provisioning ensuring that monitoring is configured

Write scripts to execute monitoring tasks that are out of the scope and capabilities of Zabbix

Remediate all monitoring and alerting issues

Manage, maintain, and upgrade the Zabbix software

Maintain associated documentation as it applies to our audit and certification requirements

Participate in troubleshooting, capacity planning and analysis, and performance analysis activities

Provide monthly reports showing the service availability of the infrastructure components as well as each Customer

Support the set-up of automatic processes and solutions that show our Customers the quality of the services that we are providing

Capacity planning as it pertains to our monitoring infrastructure

What it takes:

BA/BS in Computer Science preferred, or equivalent experience

5+ years of experience in a highly-complex technical operations environment

At least 3 years of experience with an Enterprise Systems Management product in a large, complex, virtualized environment

At least 1 year of experience with Windows administration, Active Directory, and Patch Management

At least 1 year of Application Development and Testing experience

Hands on operational experience in a high-volume or critical production service environment

Experience with production support, change control protocols

Experience managing highly available environments and configurations

Highly self-motivated and directed

Keen attention to detail

Good analytical and problem-solving/troubleshooting abilities

Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment

Advanced knowledge of Zabbix

Experience with a node and proxy architecture

Configuration and performance tuning

Advanced knowledge of SNMP

Intermediate knowledge in shell scripting (BASH, Python, etc)

Intermediate knowledge in networking (switches, routers, etc)

Intermediate knowledge of various operating systems (Windows, Linux, etc)

Intermediate knowledge of PostgreSQL

Past experience with OM,OMI,BSM

Scripting skills (Salt, Ruby, Perl, C, Python, PowerShell)

Linux experience

Familiarity with vBlock architecture (blade servers, VNX, UCS, etc)

Familiarity with IP networking (iptables, haproxy, vpn, tcp/ip, http)

Familiarity with VNX, Data Domain, and Isilon storage
